The lectures are organised by tabula.katastro.fi. The concerts are a part of the "Helsinki Sound 2001" event organised by Äänen Lumo ry / Charm of Sound association. The lectures are free and open for all, the concerts cost 70/50 FIM.

Atau Tanaka began his work in multimedia in 1984. He worked with John Cage at Harvard, with Fred Frith in Amsterdam, and studied computer music at Stanford, and in Paris. In 1994, Edwin van der Heide, Zbigniew Karkowski and Atau Tanaka formed performance ensemble Sensorband. They started to use bioelectric sensors, infrared and ultrasound as musical instruments. Tanaka uses physical gestures to articulate music and sound synthesis and real-time image transformation.

Richard Lerman has been active in music since 1960´s. He regularly performs and does installations in united states and in europe. He is also known as filmmaker, video artist and composer. Lerman uses his self-built musical instruments which use piezoelectric transducers. Lerman has taught performance art, film making, sound art, and electronic music. Currently he teaches at ASU in phoenix, arizona.
